My trade file won't load, or the numbers look wrong
The file isn't read at all
- Upload the report file your platform makes, not a screenshot or PDF. PDFs can't be read.
- For CSV files, the first row should be the column names, with one trade per row after it.
- The file needs a profit column (it can be called Profit, P/L, Net profit and similar) and ideally a close time column.
- If an Excel file won't open, save it as CSV from Excel or Google Sheets and try again.
It says "no dates found"
The trades were read, but without dates. The test then needs to know how often you trade: set Trades per day to your usual number. Results are less accurate this way, because quiet and busy days can't keep their real shape, so use a file with close times if you can.
The trade count or profit looks wrong
- A backtest report includes only closed trades. Open trades at the end are ignored.
- Commission and swap are included when the report has them, so totals can differ a little from the headline net profit.
- If the starting balance is wrong, set Starting balance of the test to the balance the backtest started with. Results are worked out as a percentage of that balance.
Paste instead of upload
You can paste rows into Or paste CSV rows, with a header line first, for example:
close time,profit
2026-03-02 14:00,250
2026-03-02 18:30,-120
