Writing entry rules

Updated 28 Oct 2026

Section 3 has a Buy when box and a Sell when box (only the ones your Basics allow).

Conditions

Each condition compares two things: an indicator line, a price, or a number. For example close crosses above ema, or rsi is below 30. True/false lines (such as a pattern) use is true or is false.

Bars ago

Bars ago picks which bar to look at: 0 is the bar that just closed, 1 the one before it, and so on. close (1 bar ago) is above high (2 bars ago) compares two earlier bars.

Groups

A group is either:

  • All of these are true (every condition must pass), or
  • Any of these is true (one is enough).

Groups can hold other groups, so you can write "trend is up and (RSI is oversold or price touched the lower band)".

Reverse (NOT)

Ticking Reverse (NOT) on a group flips it: the group passes when its conditions are not met.

When rules are checked

Every rule is checked once, when a bar closes. If it passes, the trade opens at the next bar's open. The strategy holds one trade per market at a time.
