Previewing a strategy: practice prices, your own file or real prices
The Preview runs your strategy over price history and shows the trades, the balance curve, win rate, profit factor, maximum drawdown, worst day and losing streak, and whether the daily and maximum loss limits were broken.
Practice prices (free)
Made-up prices that behave like a real market. They show the strategy works (rules fire, exits behave) but say nothing about whether it makes money.
Your own price file (free)
Load price history exported from your platform: a CSV with time, open, high, low and close. Files from MT5, MT4, TradingView, cTrader and Dukascopy are read as they are. Files over 40 MB need a shorter date range. The builder warns you if the file's bars don't match the strategy's timeframe.
Real prices (with a pass)
Choose Real prices (with a pass) to test on our price history for major forex pairs, stock indices, metals and oil, going back several years and topped up through the day. Pick the dates, and run.
- Real prices start at 5-minute bars, so the chart timeframe needs to be 5 minutes or more.
- They're mid prices from a broker feed: close to, but not the same as, your broker's, and with no spread. Set Commission per lot in the preview settings to make the test a little stricter.
- There's a generous daily allowance per account, which resets at midnight UTC.
The preview is a check, not a promise. Always backtest the exported bot on your own platform and run it on a demo before trading real money.
