Strategy builder: how it fits together

Updated 28 Oct 2026

A strategy in the builder has six sections, top to bottom:

  1. Basics: name, market, chart timeframe, and whether it buys, sells or both.
  2. Indicators: the indicators your rules use. Prices (close, high, low…) are always available without adding anything.
  3. Entry rules: when to buy and when to sell.
  4. Exits: stop loss, take profit, break-even, trailing stop and time exits.
  5. Trading times: hours and days the strategy may open trades.
  6. Risk and prop firm rules: risk per trade and the prop guards.

The side panel shows Checks (anything that needs fixing before you can preview or export), the Preview and Export.

Start from an example

Use the New… menu to start blank, from a template, or from the example set. The templates are complete working strategies you can change, which is often quicker than starting from nothing.

What's free

Building, previewing on practice prices or your own price file, and the checks are all free, with no account. Sign in to save strategies. A pass lets you export and test on our real price history.

Rules are checked when a bar closes, and trades open at the next bar's open. Nothing looks ahead, so the preview and the exported bot make the same decisions.
